Who is a PADI Openwater Diver?
PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Openwater Divers learn to scuba dive independently with a buddy to depths of 18 metres. As the world's leading scuba dive training organisation, PADI's certifications are recognised around the world and are your passport to a life less ordinary. Beginners can learn to dive today at Scubadive West in Galway, Ireland. 
What does the PADI Openwater Course Cover?
The PADI Openwater Course consists of knowledge development, dive skill development and open water dives. The knowledge development is covered through self study, audio visual presentations and quizzes. Skill development takes place in a pool or confined body of water and the final phase of your course is completed over four open water dives at our dive centre in the clear,sheltered waters of Little Killary Bay. This phase allows you to gain the experience necessary to dive independently in the open water environment.

PADI Openwater Course Format: Two Options
1. Dive Holiday : Monday - Friday
Enjoy a week in lovely Connemara and combine a holiday with gaining your PADI international diving licence! Complete the course Monday thru Friday (10am to 5pm) at the Dive Centre.
2. Modular: Two Weekends
For the person whose time is valuable, finish most of the knowledge development at home with videos and a self study book. Complete the course over two weekends.
What Age Do I need to Be?
Scubadive West welcomes anyone from the age of 11 years and above for scuba diving. There is no upper age limit. If you have a child younger than 11 years, we are happy to undertake our Discover Snorkelling programme with them.
