Start Your PADI Instructor Course Today with the eLearning Option

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training. The course focuses on preparing you to function as a PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor by introducing you to the complete PADI System. The course focuses your ability to use all components of the system as a professional dive educator.

What is eLearning?                                                           

You may now complete portions of the knowledge development for the IDC via eLearning. After enrolling, PADI's eLearning system presents you with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss. This lets you move through the programme efficiently and at your own pace. The eLearning course will be available for use for one year from the time of course registration.

How much does eLearning Cost?

The PADI Instructor Development Course online is $320 (US). The fee covers nine separate topics online to prepare you for the practical sessions needed to complete your Assistant Instructor course or Open Water Scuba Instructor course. The two programmes combined make up the full IDC. After completion of the OWSI course or full IDC, you must successfully complete a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and also be a CPR & first aid instructor before certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Will eLearning Save me Time?

Completion of the eLearning will reduce you IDC class time by over 7 hours. IDC candidates who have successfully completed this programme do not need to attend the first day of the IDC. Since you will have completed much of the knowledge development online, time is focused more on the practical sessions of your training. This means you also pay a discounted price of just €750 for your IDC, including AI (Assistant Instructor) and OWSI (Openwater Scuba Instructor). Or €950 for the IDC including AI, OWSI and EFRI (Emergency First Response Instructor). That’s a saving of €150!

There is an Assistant Instructor application fee or an IDC registration fee and IE fee that must be paid to PADI for processing. You will also need to purchase an IDC Crew-Pak and have a current PADI Instructor Manual depending on how recently you may have completed your PADI Divemaster course. There are also other required materials and personal dive equipment that you may already have.
